Of late, I’ve been digging ponytails and high buns.
I work from home so it’s a very convenient hairstyle.
And whether I’m going to the gym, or attending a party – I’ve found that there’s a ponytail style to fit every occasion.
So, in this post, I want to show you how ponytails can be customized to suit any hair type – I’ll cover curly and wavy ponytails too.
Let’s dive in!
1. High Bubble Pony
Bold and playful, this high ponytail with bubble sections is an instant head-turner.
I like that each bubble is evenly spaced, and it adds a nice voluminous effect to an otherwise simple ponytail.
It’s such a fun way to show off personality and creativity while keeping hair up and out of the way.
You can use gel if you have natural hair and want to avoid strays – I do it and it works like a charm.
2. Double Bubble Ponytails
Mixing a retro vibe with modern flair, this look features double ponytails adorned with bubble sections.
I really want to try this and go for that playful look. It looks like so much fun!
The textured bubbles make it a bit edgy. This look is perfect for when you want to embrace a playful, adventurous spirit.
3. Curly high pony
This is my go-to almost every time I go out because I have 3B curls.
I love her edges! It’s glam!
This is a slicked-back high ponytail that cascades into loose, defined curls, this style is all about contrast.
It’s perfect for a night out or a special occasion when you want a glamorous, yet keep your natural look.
4. Classic Sleek High Pony
I know it looks simple, but this woman can walk into a wedding – it’s so beautiful.
This is so chic!
Timeless and refined, this ponytail style showcases smooth, polished waves that can be accomplished with rollers or a curling tool.
The hair is pulled back and the waves add a touch of movement and sophistication.
This is a go-to look for formal events, it’s so graceful!
5. Loose Curls Pony
With loose curls and a soft, romantic touch, this low ponytail is effortlessly graceful.
I love the subtle twist at the base because it adds a touch of elegance, and the cascading curls frame her back beautifully.
This is ideal for bridesmaids or date nights – so delicate and dreamy!
6. Textured Low-Wave Pony
This low ponytail features relaxed waves that give a natural, beachy feel.
It’s perfect for casual days or any occasion where you want to feel effortlessly chic and comfortable.
Also, this woman has such lovely hair density – so jealous!
7. Romantic Textured Pony with Side Twists
This is a wedding look – I know.
A low ponytail flows with soft, defined waves, while delicate twists on each side add a unique touch of femininity.
You may need a few bobby pins for this – but it’s totally worth it!
It’s the perfect look for a wedding or any event where you want a fairytale vibe, balancing effortless beauty with just the right amount of detail.
I love how buttery-soft her hair looks.
8. Hollywood Wave Pony
This is so creative – I love it!
This low ponytail features structured, defined waves throughout the length, creating a smooth, flowing shape.
The hair at the base is pulled back cleanly, with the ponytail itself showcasing continuous waves for a full-bodied look.
I feel this ponytail was made to pair with dresses!
9. High Ponytail
I love this ponytail – it’s so clean and easy to do. There is a nice tuck involved near the crown that might be a little tricky, but it’s so creative and perfect!
10. Sleek High Ponytail
Her hair is pulled tightly into a high ponytail with a smooth finish, creating a clean, structured look.
I feel this is a very nice office-look – it’s so clean, minimalistic and simple.
The base of the ponytail is wrapped with a section of hair for a seamless appearance. The ponytail is straight and glossy, giving it a polished, minimalist effect.
11. Low Wavy Ponytail with Face-Framing Curls
This style features a low ponytail with soft, defined waves cascading down the back.
The hair is pulled back smoothly at the base, and a loose curl frames the face on each side, adding a soft, romantic touch.
The waves in the ponytail provide texture and volume, creating a relaxed yet polished look.
12. Low Twisted Ponytail with Waves
Again, perfect for a wedding.
This low ponytail has a soft, twisted section at the back, adding a touch of elegance!
The ponytail itself falls in loose waves, which is perfect for any event. The twist at the base adds subtle detailing to the otherwise simple ponytail.
13. Dutch braid with Low Ponytail
A Dutch braid runs along one side of the head, adding texture and dimension. The rest of the hair is gathered into a low ponytail with soft waves.
I am a huge fan of dutch braids because they look so complicated but if you master it, you can literally awe anyone.
This style combines the structured braid with the relaxed waves, creating a balanced look.
14. High Ponytail with Side Part and Face-Framing Pieces
Hair is pulled back into a high ponytail, but with a slight side part.
Another glamorous look!
Two pieces of hair are left out on either side to frame the face.
The ponytail is smooth and straight, giving a structured look with the face-framing pieces adding softness.
15. Low Ponytail with Face Framing Curls
This style features a low ponytail with a sleek base, allowing two loose curls to frame the face on each side.
This is so easy to do, you just need a curler and some patience.
The ponytail itself falls in soft waves, adding texture to the otherwise smooth look. The face-framing curls soften the overall style, bringing attention to the facial features.
16. Braided High Ponytail with Miniature Section Ties
This is perfect for kids! It’s fun!
This playful high ponytail has small sections at the front, each tied with colorful elastics and adorned with tiny floral accessories.
A braided section runs parallel to the hairline on each side, adding such a fun vibe!
17. Sleek High Straight Ponytail
This style features a high ponytail with a smooth, sleek finish.
Hair is tightly pulled back and secured high on the head, with the length of the ponytail kept straight.
It’s a clean, minimalist look that emphasizes the ponytail’s length and shine.
She reminds me a lot of Nicole Scherzinger!
18. Curly Low Ponytail with Sleek Base
Hair is slicked back smoothly into a low ponytail, with the ponytail itself styled in tight, voluminous curls.
I do this often with my curls and I’ve often been complimented for this ponytail style!
The sleek base highlights the contrast between the structured top and the fullness of the curls at the bottom, adding dimension to the style.
19. High Ponytail with Loose Waves (dyed streaks)
This high ponytail has a full, voluminous look, with the length styled in loose, flowing waves.
The waves create a bouncy, textured appearance, adding height and fullness to the overall look. It’s ideal for adding extra volume and movement.
20 High Curled Ponytail with Side Bangs
The hair is pulled up into a high ponytail, with the ponytail length curled into bouncy ringlets.
A voluminous side bang is styled in a soft curl, framing the face.
The sleek base contrasts with the curls, giving it a polished but dynamic look.
21. Sisterlocks Ponytail
This style wowed me.
I’ve already compiled some of my favorite natural hairstyles here, but this one definitely tops the list!
This style combines sophistication and natural beauty with neatly arranged sister locks gathered in a low ponytail.
This is perfect for a look that’s both timeless and effortlessly chic.
I hope you loved this post!
